An easy recipe to make delicious black gram curry

Material:

– Black gram: 1 cup (soaked overnight)

– Onion: 1 finely chopped

– Tomatoes: 2 medium sized, finely chopped

– Green chillies: 2 (optional)

– Ginger-garlic paste: 1 teaspoon

– Oil: 2 teaspoons

– Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon

– Coriander powder: 1 teaspoon

– Red chilli powder: 1/2 teaspoon

– Garam masala: 1/2 teaspoon

– Cumin: 1/2 teaspoon

– Salt: as per taste

– Coriander: to garnish

Method:

1. Boil black gram: First of all, boil the black gram soaked overnight in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles. The gram should become very soft. Keep these aside.

2. Prepare the masala: Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds to it and when the cumin seeds start crackling, add finely chopped onion and fry till it turns golden.

3. Add tomatoes and spices: Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 1-2 minutes. Then add chopped tomatoes and spices like turmeric, coriander powder, red chilli powder and cook until the tomatoes become soft and oil starts separating.

4. Add black gram: Now add boiled black gram to this masala and mix well. If needed, add some water so that the gravy becomes a little thick. Add salt and let it cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes.

5. Garam masala and garnish: Finally add garam masala and mix well. Add green coriander on top and turn off the gas.

6. Serve: Your delicious black gram curry is ready. Serve it with hot roti, paratha or rice.

Tips:

– If you want, you can also add potatoes to this vegetable.

– You can also eat it by adding lemon juice to enhance the taste.
