An explosion in Ordnance Factory in Bhandara, Maharashtra, eight people killed
Bhandara : Eight people died after an explosion occurred in an Ordnance Factory in Bhandara district of Maharashtra, while relief and rescue operations continue. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave this information.
“According to preliminary information, eight people died and seven people were reported injured in the explosion,” Gadkari told reporters.
Earlier, he posted on the social media platform 'X', “It is unfortunate that a worker died due to an explosion and roof collapse in an armament factory in Bhandara district and got caught in many other debris. Tribute to those who lost their lives in the incident. I have condolences to the families of the deceased. I pray for the injured to recover early. ''
A senior district official said that the roof of the unit collapsed due to the explosion. He said that search and rescue operations are going on at the scene.
Earlier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that 13 to 14 personnel were trapped at the scene.
Police and district officials said that the blast occurred in the 'LTP section' of Ordnance Factory located in Jawahar Nagar area at around 10:30 am.
District Magistrate Sanjay Kolte said that 14 employees were working in the 'LTP section' at the time of the blast.
He said that six people were taken out, one of whom died and the other was admitted to the hospital.
