“It takes a village to raise a child.”
That’s a proverb reminding us that responsibility is never individual; it belongs to the community.
In Mawlynnong, Meghalaya, that idea shapes daily life.

He said that cleanliness here is not a campaign but a culture. Every person in the village takes the responsibility of cleanliness himself. Bamboo dustbins have been placed at various places and the use of plastic is completely banned.
Compost is made from waste, which is used in farming. Mahindra wrote that if India has to change its image, it will be possible not only through slogans, but through collective responsibility.
