Anant Joshi replaces Vaibhav Raj Gupta in Gullak 5, talks about Annu Mishra’s character…
The fifth season of Indian OTT’s most favorite family drama series “Gullak” has been streamed on Sony LIV from June 5, 2026. With the return of the popular series “Gullak 5”, the change in the character of Annu Mishra is also much discussed. Actually, the character of Annu Mishra was played by actor Vaibhav Raj Gupta for the last 4 seasons, but in the 5th season, actor Anant V Joshi has played this character. At the same time, recently Anant has talked about playing this character.
It is not an easy task to get into a character deeply rooted in the hearts.
Recently, while talking in an interview, Anant V Joshi said on replacing Vaibhav Raj Gupta in Gullak 5 – It is not an easy task to get into a character deeply rooted in the hearts of the audience. Ananth V Joshi, who acted brilliantly in 12th Fail and Mamla Legal Hai, admitted that though there were some apprehensions, the team had done rigorous preparation long before the shooting began. We had adopted a complete process even before we stepped on the set. We did several rounds of readings and then discussed with the makers, only then both of us were completely sure that we were going to take such a big decision.”
Anant V Joshi said, “My intention was never to copy anyone or play a character exactly like someone else has played it. Because the depth of the character lies in the writing itself. Anu’s journey for Season 5 is completely different, now he is venturing out, stepping into the ‘wild world’, exploring it and facing the challenges there. But whenever he is at home, I made sure that people who see Anu as his old self, They love my form, I should make them feel the same.”
Anant V Joshi, who grew up in a similar family environment, said that joining this show felt more like a homecoming than a nerve-wracking challenge. He said, “It used to be a common dinner table conversation like Gullak. Getting the opportunity to play such an important character for this show was more of a thrill than a nervous experience for me.”
