Real Madrid transfer news: Carlo Ancelotti issues update on club’s January plans amid Casemiro speculation

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti says that the club will not make any firm plans for the January window until after their clash with Sevilla on December 22.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said that the club will not make any firm plans when it comes to the January transfer window until after their clash with Sevilla on December 22.

Los Blancos have lost both You Militao and Dani Carvajal to ACL injuries this term, with the pair out for the remainder of the season, while Lucas Vazquez, Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni and David Alaba are also currently on the sidelines.

Real Madrid have recently been linked with a move for their former player Casemirowith Los Blancos said to be open to bringing the experienced midfielder back to Bernabeu from Manchester Unitedpotentially in January.

However, Ancelotti refused to give anything away when questioned on his club’s plans during his press conference to preview Sunday’s La Liga clash with Leganes.

“After the game against Sevilla in December we will consider what to do during the winter transfer window,” Ancelotti told reporters, with Real Madrid also thought to be eyeing a new centre-back in January.

Ancelotti coy on Real Madrid’s plans for January transfer window

The club’s current injury problems have led to claims that Federico Valverde will be used at right-back on Sunday, while Brahim Diaz is seemingly in line for a start in the final third of the field.

“Valverde at full-back is an option, we have tried some things in this break but tomorrow I will try to choose the best one for the team,” said Ancelotti when questioned on the situation.

“He’s (Brahim) back from injury and he’s back in very good shape. He’s scored goals, he’s back in extraordinary condition. He will be important for us, he plays on the wing, and he helps the midfield. He’s very important for us, like last year. I think he’ll play even more.

“There are some who are taking more responsibility. Valverde, (Eduardo) Camavinga, Vinicius (Junior), (Jude) Bellingham… it is a process that needs time. We have lost Carvajal who is an important piece although he is always with us. Everyone is aware that he is an important point.”

Will Asencio make full Real Madrid debut against Leganes?

Ancelotti also hinted that Raul Asencio would be receiving a full Real Madrid debut against Leganes after appearing off the bench against Osasuna before the international break.

“He’s doing very well after his debut. He’s prepared and physically ready to compete. He’s excited and motivated, I see him doing very well,” the Italian added.

Asencio arrived at Real Madrid from Las Palmas in 2017, and he has made 45 league appearances for Real Madrid B, but the 21-year-old is now a part of the first-team set-up due to the team’s injury problems.
