Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a bus accident in Andhra Pradesh and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. At least 14 people were killed and 23 others injured when a private bus collided with a truck and caught fire in Markapuram district on Thursday, police said.
Markapuram Superintendent of Police V Harshvardhan Raju said the passengers were trapped inside the burning vehicle. Murmu said on ‘X’, “Deeply saddened to learn about the bus accident in Markapuram district of Andhra Pradesh. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. My thoughts and prayers are with them. I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over a road accident in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh and expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced assistance. In a message posted on ‘X’, the Prime Minister said, “The accident in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh is tragic. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. My wish is for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

He also announced assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to help the people affected by this incident. He said, “An amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the next of kin of each deceased from PMNRF. Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.” He said that more information is still emerging about the accident, but local authorities have started relief and rescue operations.
