Andhra Pradesh: Chandrababu Naidu’s big bet, if you have 2 or more children, you will get Rs 25,000, know what is the new scheme of the government
News India Live, Digital Desk: The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a unique scheme to balance the declining birth rate and rapidly increasing elderly population in the state. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced that parents who have two or more children will be given an incentive amount of Rs 25,000 from the government. This decision has been taken with the aim of securing the future workforce of the state. Why was there a need for this strange decision? The fertility rate in Andhra Pradesh and many states of South India is going below the national average. The Chief Minister believes that if the situation continues like this, there will be a shortage of youth in Andhra Pradesh in the coming decades and the number of elderly people will only increase. This may slow down the pace of economy and development of the state. Apart from the slogan of ‘Hum Do Hamare Do’, the message of ‘Small Family, Happy Family’ has been given in India for the last few decades. But Chandrababu Naidu has changed this perception and said that now the time has come that we should encourage large families to save our demographic dividend. He has indicated that in future, the rule of ‘limit of two children’ for contesting local body elections can also be abolished. Focus will also be on education and health. The government says that this Rs 25,000 is only a beginning. Along with this, the government is also preparing a blueprint to provide better education and health facilities to those families which will contribute in balancing the population of the state. The main goal of this scheme is to make Andhra Pradesh a youth-rich and economically strong state by 2047.
