Hyderabad: Tense moments were witnessed at ‘RGV Den’, the office of director Ram Gopal Varma after a team from the Andhra Pradesh police arrived there on Monday to take him into custody for questioning in connection with a case booked against him in the neighbouring state.

Ram Gopal Varma, popularly known as RGV had skipped to appear before the Ongole Rural police for questioning regarding a case booked against him for his alleged derogatory comments on AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on his ‘X’ account.

A complaint was filed against RGV by Maddipadu TDP leader Ramalingaiah at Ongole Rural police station regarding the derogatory comments he made against the AP leaders as part of the promotions of RGV’s latest movie ‘Vyooham’.

Following this, RGV had approached the High Court seeking to quash this complaint. However, the court stated that it would not interfere in the issue and advised RGV to file an anticipatory bail petition if he fears arrest.

On November 19, RGV requested the police for four days’ time to attend the questioning. On Monday, again he was supposed to appear before the police for questioning, but skipped again. However, through his lawyer, he informed Ongole Police that he could not attend the questioning due to prior film shooting schedule.

As he already skipped the questioning once, Ongole police landed at RGV’s office cum residence and were waiting to take him to Ongole. They are learnt to have told that RGV has not been cooperating for the questioning and thus, he may be taken into custody if necessary.
