Google is adding another level to it. In such a situation, Google has planned not just one but two Android releases in 2025. Starting next year, Google will release a major release in the second quarter (Q2) and a minor release in the fourth quarter (Q4). The Q2 release will include new developer APIs and some changes. The purpose of the shift to Q2 instead of the usual Q3 schedule is to allow device makers to release new versions of Android for more devices sooner. Meanwhile, the smaller release of Q4 will focus on making the system compatible and fixing bugs.
