Android Verified Caller Features: Google is preparing a new system to strengthen the security of Android users, which will help in stopping the increasing fake calls and bank frauds across the world including India. This feature will work in all smartphones through Android Play Services and will tell users whether the call is trustworthy or suspicious even before the call is received. Its purpose is to curb spoofing and online fraud.
Android users will get big security relief
Google is preparing a new security feature for Android phones, which will detect fake and scam calls in advance and alert users. This feature will work at the system level, which will further strengthen the protection against bank fraud and spoofing calls.
This is being considered an important update in view of the increasing online and phone fraud in countries like India. The new system will indicate whether the caller is trustworthy or suspicious even before the call comes.
How will the ‘Verified Caller’ feature work?
Google’s new verified caller system will be part of Android Play Services. Its purpose is to stop the technique of scammers in which they make fake calls that look like bank or government numbers.
This system will match the call with a verified database and if any number is found suspicious then the user will get an immediate alert. With this, users will be alerted before picking up the call.
Same security will be available in every Android phone
Till now this feature was limited only to Google Phone app, but after the new update it will be implemented on all Android devices. This will include brands like Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Realme and OnePlus.
After this change, every Android user will get the same level of security, no matter which company’s phone he is using. This can make the Android ecosystem more secure than before.
Bank fraud and spoofing will be banned
A major focus of this feature is to prevent misuse of Do Not Originate (DNO) numbers. Scammers often use these numbers to commit fraud in the name of banks or government agencies.
The new system will identify these numbers in advance and flag the calls. Apart from this, bank apps will also be able to add their verified numbers to the system, which will significantly reduce the possibility of fraud.
