Android Security: Now online robbers will be exposed as soon as you circle Google’s new security cover will protect you from financial fraud

News India Live, Digital Desk: In this era of Digital India, while online transactions have increased, there has also been a record increase in the cases of ‘cyber fraud’. Every day, innocent people are losing their hard-earned money by falling prey to fake bank messages, tempting offers and phishing links. To solve this problem, Google has transformed its popular feature ‘Circle to Search’ into a powerful ‘anti-fraud’ tool. Now this feature will not be limited to just searching for information, but will play the role of a ‘digital guard’ in identifying suspicious messages and financial threats coming on your phone. How will this new ‘anti-fraud’ feature work? Google has added advanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning algorithms to this feature. Suppose you receive a message on WhatsApp or SMS which claims to be from a bank or which contains a link to an unknown website. Now all you have to do is draw a ‘circle’ around that message or link. Instant Verification: As soon as you circle, Google’s search engine will cross-check the language of the message, sender ID and authenticity of the link with its huge database. Red Flag Warning: If the message resembles a known scam or the link is from a blacklisted site, then a big alert of ‘Financial Fraud Warning’ or ‘Suspicious Link’ will immediately appear on the screen. There will be a flash. Keep an eye on fake bank calls and payment apps too. Not just messages, Google is expanding this feature further. If you suddenly receive an unknown payment request on any payment app (like Google Pay, PhonePe), you can use ‘Circle to Search’ to check the history of that UPI ID and its ‘Fraud Score’. This feature will tell you whether that ID has been involved in any suspicious activity in the past or not. This will give users a chance to think once and be cautious before pressing the ‘Pay’ button. Which users will benefit from this? Currently, this update is being rolled out for premium smartphone users of Google Pixel 8, Pixel 9 series and Samsung Galaxy S24, S25 series. Google plans to make this security cover also available for other major Android smartphones (like OnePlus and Motorola) by the end of 2026. This feature is based on ‘on-device AI’, which means that your personal information will not go out of the phone and it will be able to identify basic threats even without internet. Cyber experts’ opinion: This tool will prove to be a ‘gamechanger’. Cyber security experts believe that this update of ‘Circle to Search’ can prove to be a ‘gamechanger’ in the direction of preventing online fraud. Most frauds succeed because the user hastily clicks on the link. Now, by simply drawing a circle the user will know the truth about that threat in seconds. However, experts also warn that no matter how advanced the technology is, users themselves should be cautious and should never share their OTP or PIN with anyone.
