Mumbai – During the concreting work on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway, the road has been damaged and potholes are visible at many places. For this, an agency has finally been appointed and the work of repairing the road panels has been started. The District Magistrate has said that this project will be completed by the end of April. It is noteworthy that due to this concreting work, lakhs of drivers traveling to and from Gujarat had to face problems for months due to frequent jams on the highway. But ultimately these problems have become meaningless due to poor quality work.
Mumbai–Ahmedabad National Highway is a major highway connecting Mumbai, Thane, Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar, Palghar, Gujarat and other regions. Since there have been many problems like waterlogging, potholes, traffic jams and accidents on this highway for some time, people are often complaining on social media. Citizens traveling through here are affected. One has to face many problems especially during the rains. To solve this problem, the Highway Authority had done the work of making 121 km long road concrete.
Even after the new work, the potholes are still surprising.
This highway became infamous for its potholed road and dilapidated condition. Even during this concretization, potholes were formed at many places. Meanwhile, driving on wet roads in some parts has left tire marks on the roads at some places. The road level is high and low at some places. Due to damage to the road like this, two-wheeler riders are falling and causing accidents every day while commuting.
At present it is seen that due to construction of new concrete road, more potholes are being formed and the road is in a dilapidated condition, citizens allege that the work is of low quality. A meeting was held in Palghar Collector office regarding this. At that time also the District Magistrate had instructed the officials of the National Highway Authority to complete the road work with good quality.
Appointment of Pit Supply Agency..
After concreting the highway, panel repair work has been done on the road in the area where the road has been damaged. An agency has been appointed for this. In this regard, Project Director Suhas Chitnis said that the roads where concreting has been damaged are being inspected and repaired by removing the panels. This work will be completed by the end of March.
Repair using special chemicals..
Panel repair work has been started. The part which is damaged. The road is being treated by extracting sand in equal quantity and preparing a mixture of various chemicals and sand. The road is opened for use a day or two after the work is completed.

Under the white topping project for highway safety, about 56 km. Metal beam crash barrier and 9 km. New Jersey odds are being added. Diversion boards, concrete barriers, reflective stickers, blinkers have been installed while the work is ongoing. Sign boards, blinkers, transverse bars will be made for accident prone areas. The project is likely to be completed by April 2025. The National Highways Authority of India said an ‘authority engineer’ has been appointed to monitor the work.
