New Delhi, March 7. Controversy has arisen over the venue of the International Santhal Conference in Darjeeling, West Bengal in which President Draupadi Murmu is present. During the conference, President Murmu expressed his displeasure and said that this program was organized at a place where people of Santhal community cannot reach easily. At the same time, he also expressed surprise at the absence of Mamata Banerjee and any minister from the TMC government to welcome the President. Overall, the President appeared quite distressed by the indifference of the Mamata government during this visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also very angry with this disrespect of the President and while reacting on the social media platform X, he said that the people of the entire country are saddened by the President’s pain and displeasure. He said that the post of President is above politics and it should always be respected. PM Modi criticized the West Bengal government and TMC and said that the administration is responsible for this entire matter.

President Murmu’s comment on Mamata Banerjee

President Murmu was invited to the annual event of the tribal community, which was originally scheduled to be held at the Big Ground in Bidhannagar, Siliguri. But at the time it was shifted to Phansidewa area of Siliguri Divisional Council. The ground was so small that many people from the Santhal community returned without attending the program.
