Angry crowd created ruckus over suspicious death of ‘Farsa wale Baba’, CM Yogi gave instructions for strict action

Mathura, 21 March. The Uttar Pradesh government has immediately reacted to the death of a cow vigilante in Mathura. Taking cognizance of this incident, Chief Minister Yogi has directed the officials to ensure strict action against the culprits. Violence has erupted after the death of Chandrashekhar alias ‘Farsa Wale Baba’ under suspicious circumstances. The angry mob blocked the Delhi-Agra highway and indulged in stone pelting and vandalism, after which the police had to resort to lathicharge and tear gas.

The Chief Minister has reiterated the state government’s commitment towards accountability and adherence to law. He said, “The culprits will not be spared under any circumstances. Strict action will also be taken against those who play with law and order.” According to Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, preliminary investigation has revealed that Chandrashekhar was trying to stop a container when a truck coming from behind hit him, resulting in his death.

He said that the vehicles and drivers concerned have been identified and all aspects are being investigated. There is a tense situation in the area regarding the incident. As a precautionary measure, police force has been increased in many areas and the roads are being monitored. Family members and supporters allege that Chandrashekhar was chasing cow smugglers. Meanwhile, he tried to stop the truck, but the truck driver increased his speed and crushed him and fled from the spot. He died on the spot in the incident.

As soon as the news of the incident spread, a large number of people gathered at the spot and blocked the highway demanding the arrest of the accused and an encounter. The mob pelted stones at the police, injuring several policemen. Also, 5-6 police vehicles were vandalized and their windows were broken. Seeing the situation going out of control, the police resorted to lathi charge and released tear gas shells. After this the crowd was dispersed.

Efforts are on to control the situation by deploying heavy police force on the spot. At the same time, the police administration says that the incident is being investigated. The administration has issued an alert in the entire area in view of security. At present, the police and administrative officials are trying to normalize the situation by talking to the local people, while the people involved in violence and vandalism are being identified and preparations are being made to take action against them.
