Anil Kapoor shared emotional story of his father
Anil has often talked about fulfilling his father’s unfulfilled wishes, but this time he shared an incident that made the matter very personal for him. During a recent conversation, he told how after one of his father’s films flopped badly at the box office, people immediately turned away from him. Recalling that moment, Anil told Lily Singh that his father, who was once surrounded by people, suddenly became alone after the failure of the film. In the words of Anil Kapoor, “He was going from Delhi to Bangalore, and there was no one to welcome him at the airport. It was as if everyone had abandoned him, as if they refused to accept him as their own. It was very shocking… I could see that he was very weak, almost crying.”
Lifelong lessons learned
Anil told that that experience remained in his mind forever. It was not just a matter of one film failing; Rather, it was an example of how fragile success in the industry can be. Anil also told that despite being a producer, his father never made things easy for him. When Anil expressed his desire to act, Surinder Kapoor made it clear that he would have to find his own path. At the early age of 18 or 19, Anil entered the film industry with a sense of responsibility. Anil Kapoor further said, “He (Surinder Kapoor) was a filmmaker, and at that time it was difficult to get lead actors and actors for his films. So I said, ‘I have to become a hero. I have to become a lead hero.’
