Who is Anita Anand?
Anita Anand is a senior member of the Liberal Party as well as a member of the Canadian Parliament since 2019. He has not only successfully handled many key departments in the Trudeau government, but has also performed every responsibilities very well. She has held the responsibilities of Public Service and Procurement Ministry, National Defense Ministry and Chairman of the Treasury Board. Apart from this, she is working as Transport and Internal Trade Minister from 2024.
Anita's father was from Tamil Nadu, while her mother was from Punjab. However, Anita was born and raised in Nova Scotia, a rural area in Canada. Anita furthered her career by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Queen's University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jurisprudence from Oxford University, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University and a Masters in Law from the University of Toronto.
57 year old Anita is a lawyer by profession. He won his first parliamentary election in 2019 from the Oakville seat in Canada. In the same year he was made the Cabinet Minister of Public Services and Procurement. As Public Service Minister, he played an important role during the COVID-19 pandemic. Anita is the second woman to hold the Defense Ministry of Canada. Earlier in 1990, Kim Campbell had taken this responsibility. Anita has also been the Associate Dean of the University of Toronto. She married John Knowlton in 1995, who is a Canadian lawyer and business executive. He has 4 children.
