BCCI adopted a tough stance, criticism of the umpire's decision was heavy, this player will never make such a mistake again
sports desk: BCCI has given a tough decision due to displeasure over the umpire's decision. BCCI has taken strict action against Maharashtra batsman Ankit Bawne and has suspended him from one match. He remained standing at the crease even after Maharashtra's Ankit Bawne was given out in the Ranji Trophy match played in the first phase. The game was affected due to Bawne for about 15 minutes, after which Bawne has now been banned for one match.
Bawne had to face a ban of one match in the match played between Maharashtra and Baroda. He was suspended for one match for disagreeing with the umpire's decision, due to which he could not play in the ongoing match against Baroda in Nashik. The incident took place at the MCA ground in November last year where Bawne stood at his crease after being caught in the slips by Army's Shubham Rohilla off the bowling of Amit Shukla.
Bawne refused to leave the field for about 15 minutes as the decision could not be challenged due to the unavailability of DRS. The match restarted after the intervention of match referee Amit Sharma and Maharashtra coach Sulakshna Kulkarni. After which the referee informed BCCI and had to face a ban.
