Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep starrer ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ struts to $50M global debut
The Devil Wears Prada 2 has kicked off its box office run with a strong early performance earning $10 million in Thursday night previews in the U.S. and crossing $50.5 million globally within its first days in theatres.
The sequel which was released by 20th Century Studios under The Walt Disney Company is now tracking toward a global opening close to $180 million.
The $100 million production opened across 35 international markets including Germany, Spain, Australia, China, Brazil and Mexico before expanding to 45 markets. Overseas earnings have already reached $40.5 million in just two days.
Several territories delivered standout performances with the film posting the highest opening day of 2026 so far in Brazil, Italy, Korea and Australia, along with strong debuts in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Greece, Ukraine, New Zealand, Taiwan and the Philippines.
Among key markets Italy leads with $5.9 million followed by Brazil ($3.2 million), Germany ($3.1 million), Mexico ($3 million), and Australia ($2.7 million). France and China each brought in $2.7 million and $2.4 million respectively.
In the U.S. audience reception has been strong with an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes surpassing the original 2006 film’s 76%.
Critics have also responded positively to the sequel earning a 78% certified fresh rating.

Directed by David Frankel the film reunites stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci nearly two decades after the original The Devil Wears Prada.
The film opened in 4,150 theatres across North America including premium formats such as IMAX, DBOX and ScreenX signalling strong exhibitor confidence.
Advance ticket sales have also been robust with presales reaching around $20 million ahead of release.
Industry tracking suggests the sequel could land between $73 million and $80 million domestically in its opening weekend putting it in line with major recent releases.
The original film opened to $27.5 million domestically and went on to earn $326.5 million worldwide making the sequel’s early performance a significant step up.
