Announcement of superfast bullet train connecting Delhi, UP, Bihar and Bengal, now the journey of 20 hours will be completed in just 6 hours.

New Delhi: The central government has started preparations to run a new bullet train from Delhi to Siliguri. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this high speed rail corridor during her visit to Kolkata. After the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, it is considered to be the second largest high speed train project in the country. This train will connect Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. After its launch, long distance travel will become much easier and faster.

20 hours journey now in just 6 hours

At present, it takes about 18 to 20 hours to reach from Delhi to Siliguri by trains like Rajdhani and Duronto, but after the introduction of Bullet Train, this 1500 km long journey will be completed in just 6 to 7 hours.

The possible speed of this train is said to be 250 to 300 kilometers per hour. It is estimated that the journey from Delhi to Varanasi will be completed in approximately 3 hours 50 minutes and the journey from Delhi to Patna will be completed in approximately 4 hours 20 minutes.

Which cities will get the benefit?

Many big cities will be included in the Delhi-Siliguri bullet train route. This train will run from New Delhi and reach Siliguri via Noida, Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Patna.

Northeast India will get big benefits

Siliguri is considered the gateway to North-East India. It is also called ‘Chicken Neck Corridor’. In such a situation, this bullet train project can prove to be very important not only for passengers but also for trade, tourism and army movement.

Big investment on railway projects

The Railway Minister said that more than Rs 1 lakh crore is being invested on many railway projects including Bullet Train in West Bengal. Besides, the work of land acquisition and route alignment will also be started soon. The government claims that with this project the connectivity between North India and North-East India will be stronger than ever.
