Annu Kapoor responds to backlash over Tamannaah’s remark
Veteran actor Annu Kapoor is no stranger to speaking his mind, but his remarks about actress Tamannaah Bhatia didn’t sit well with audiences, prompting a wave of backlash.
The controversy goes back to 2025, when Kapoor appeared on a podcast and reacted to Tamannaah Bhatia’s dance in the song “Aaj Ki Raat” from Street 2.
The 70-year-old had said, “Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai (Oh my god, what milky body she has).” The line spread quickly online, drawing criticism.

Now, speaking on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, the Vicky Donor actor tried to explain how the moment unfolded.
He described watching the song as part of a discussion with his team about performance choices. “I watched it and said she is dancing very well. That’s all that happened,” he said.
The Ghayal artist believes the backlash grew because of language. According to him, the same phrase in English might not have caused such a reaction.

He further said, “If you say it in English, it’s fine, but in Hindi it becomes a problem. Abuse in our own language hits harder, but if you say the same thing in English, no one has an issue. If I had said ‘milky body’, there would have been no problem. What age would she be—28, 30? My children are that age. Just because I said ‘dudhiya badan’, people started calling me an old man and trolling me.”
He firmly said he stands by his words but is open to apologising if needed. “If you felt bad, I will touch your feet,” he said, insisting there was no wrong intention behind his remark.
The Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 actor said there is a difference between admiration and intention. He said noticing someone’s looks does not always mean desire.
To explain, Annu Kapoor compared it to a Rolls-Royce, something you can admire without wanting to own.
