Another 6 flyover is being started in Delhi from today. It will be easier to reach all these areas.
The 6-lane flyover between Anand Vihar and Apsara Border is going to be inaugurated today, 25 December 2024. This flyover is located on Road No. 56 in East Delhi and has a length of 1,440 metres. Its aim is to reduce traffic congestion in the area and make commuting easier for local residents.
The completion of this project is expected to reduce the problem of traffic jam in areas like Ramprastha Colony, Vivek Vihar and Shrestha Vihar. According to the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD), around 1,48,000 vehicles will pass through this flyover every day, which will reduce the traffic pressure on the main roads.
However, some challenges emerged during construction, such as not getting permission to remove Neem and Jamun trees standing in the carriageway. The Delhi High Court had refused permission to transplant these trees, due to which the PWD decided to open the flyover by installing barricades and reflective markers around the trees.
Local residents have welcomed the inauguration of this flyover, as it will facilitate their daily commute and save time. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of reduction in the pollution levels in the area, which till now was increasing due to traffic jams.
