Another slap on Pakistan’s face: Bangladesh bites the dust in ODI after T20 World Cup defeat

New Delhi. The cricket relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan has always been exciting and challenging. In the last several years, Pakistan tried to break the morale of Bangladesh by dominating them in ODI series, but with time Bangladesh also strengthened its team. This was the first time since 2012 that Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in an ODI series. After Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup, there was a lot of expectations and tension among the fans of both the teams regarding this series.

2. An exciting day in the third ODI

The third and deciding match of the series was played on the grounds of Dhaka. Pakistan won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. This decision could have proved to be a game changer for Pakistan, but Bangladesh responded brilliantly to it.

3. Extension of Bangladesh’s first innings

Opener Tanjid Hasan Tamim scored the first ODI century of his career in this match. He played an aggressive inning of 107 runs which included 6 fours and 7 skyscraper sixes. This innings of Tamim was not only technically excellent but also proved to put pressure on the opposing team mentally. Apart from them, Liton Das scored 41 runs and Tauheed Hriday scored 48 runs.

Bangladesh scored 290 runs losing 5 wickets in 50 overs. Haris Rauf took 3 wickets for Pakistan, but his efforts were not enough to lead the team to victory.

4. Pakistan’s batting failure

While chasing 291 runs, Pakistan again had a weak start. Three wickets fell for just 17 runs. After this the team lost half the team for 82 runs. Salman Agha, who came at number six, saved the team’s honor by playing a brilliant inning of 106 runs. Apart from him, captain Shaheen Afridi scored 37 runs, but the team could not maintain the pace of victory.

5. Bowling hero of Bangladesh

The contribution of their bowlers was important in Bangladesh’s victory. Taskin Ahmed took 4 wickets and Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets. This performance halted Pakistan’s efforts and Bangladesh achieved the distinction of defeating Pakistan in an ODI series after 11 years.
