An 18-year-old student preparing for JEE in Rajasthan’s Kota district committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of his hostel. Police gave this information on Saturday. Police said that no suicide note was found from the room. The reason for suicide is not known.
Police said Vivek Kumar, a resident of Annapur in Madhya Pradesh, was appearing for the JEE exam at a coaching center since April. He said he was staying in a hostel in Rajiv Gandhinagar in Jawaharnagar area. The student allegedly committed suicide by falling from the sixth floor of the hostel at midnight. He was taken to the hospital, but died during treatment. He said that the forensic team is collecting evidence and investigating to find out the cause of death. Post mortem will be conducted after the parents reach Kota. A case will be registered on the basis of the statement of the parents. Since January this year, 16 students studying in the coaching center of Kota have committed suicide.
