From Sixth Man to Starter: Black Becoming the Magic’s Focal Point

His performance was not an isolated flash, but confirmation of steady growth – as the numbers show. Often used as a Sixth Man, Black has earned a central role in the Magic’s offense, embracing increased responsibility and proving he can impact every game. Against Indiana, starting the game, he showcased his full skill set, shooting efficiently from the field (8-of-16, 3-of-7 from three) and at the free-throw line.

Beyond Black, six Orlando players scored in double figures. Desmond Bane led the team with 31 points, Paolo Banchero added 28 points and 12 reboundswhile Richardson and Tristan da Silva rounded out the list of key contributors.

The win pushed Orlando to 20-16, good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference, tied with the Miami Heat and just behind Philadelphia and Toronto. The Magic continue to show that, between young talent and high-level performances, the franchise’s future is in good hands. The next test comes on the road against the Washington Wizards, where Anthony Black and company will look to build on what they’ve shown so far.
