New Delhi: Artificial intelligence firm Anthropic has secured $65 billion in fresh private funding, pushing its valuation to an estimated $965 billion and placing it ahead of OpenAI Valuation in the rapidly expanding AI industry.
The San Francisco-based company, known for its Claude chatbot, said the latest investment round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, Greenoaks Capital and Sequoia Capital. The funding marks one of theargest private capital raises in the technology sector and strengthens Anthropic’s position among the world’s most valuable start-ups.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives and has quickly emerged as one of the biggest competitors to ChatGPT creator OpenAI.
Claude’s Growth Drives Revenue Surge
The company revealed that it is now generating annualized revenue of nearly $47 billion through it AI products and enterprise services. Claude, Anthropic’s flagship chatbot, is increasingly being used by businesses and individuals for coding, research, automation and workplace tasks.
Besides the funding announcement, Anthropic introduced its latest AI model, Claude Opus 4.8, which the company claims offers improved performance in coding and advanced professional work.
The rapid growth of Claude has intensified competition with OpenAI, which sparked the global AI boom after launch ChatGPT. OpenAI last reported plans for a valuation of around $852 billion following a major fundraising round earlier this year.
AI Giants Push Toward Public Listings
Anthropic, OpenAI and Elon Musk’s SpaceX-backed AI ventures are all widely expected to move toward public listings in the coming years. However, despite soaring valuations and investor enthusiasm, concerns continue over heavy financial losses across the AI sector and fears of a possible technology bubble.
