Anurag Basu revealed that Dharmendra had no problem in doing the kissing scene in Life in a Metro, said, I am ready
News India Live, Digital Desk: There are often discussions about ‘kissing scenes’ in Bollywood, especially when there is a veteran actor in the scene. But our Dharam Paaji i.e. Dharmendra has always been out of the league. Recently, film director Anurag Basu recalled the days of shooting of his 2007 hit film ‘Life in a… Metro’ and told how Dharmendra had surprised him. Anurag Basu was sweating. Anurag Basu told in an interview that when he wrote the script, there was a ‘kiss’ scene between Dharmendra and Nafisa Ali’s character. This scene was very important to show the feelings and incompleteness between two old lovers. But Anurag had a fear in his mind. They felt that Dharmendra, who is such a senior and respected actor in the industry, might refuse or get angry at doing an on-screen kiss at this age. Anurag was also worried that how will he put this matter in front of Dharam Paaji? Dharmendra’s answer: “What’s the big deal in this?” But what happened, which Anurag had not even imagined. When Anurag fearfully explained the scene to Dharmendra, Dharmendra immediately said yes without any hesitation or tantrum. He did not make it a subject of any ‘bawal’. Anurag says, “Dharam ji understood the scene and just said that if it is necessary for the story and my character is like this, then I will do it.” Nafisa Ali was nervous, Dharmendra gave support. While Dharmendra was completely professional and prepared for this scene, his co-star Nafisa Ali was a little nervous. But Dharmendra, with his cheerfulness, made them feel so comfortable that there was no awkward atmosphere on the set and the scene was shot very beautifully. Later, when people saw the film and asked Dharmendra about this scene, he said in his humorous style – “This is a game of my left hand!” He believed that the job of an actor is to portray the emotions of the character honestly, no matter what the scene is. Even today, the way this film shows the complexities and emotions of relationships, there is no comparison to it. And that scene of Dharmendra proves that he is truly a ‘Forever Young’ star.
