Gwalior’s daughter Anushka Sharma becomes global symbol of women power of Madhya Pradesh

It is said that when talent is achieved with unwavering determination and right guidance, history is created. The story of Anushka Sharma, who traveled from the streets of Gwalior to the international cricket grounds of South Africa, is today an example for every daughter of the country who harbors big dreams in her eyes. An unforgettable and glorious moment was added to Anushka’s journey of success when her selection was announced in the Indian women’s team which was going to play the T-20 series on the South Africa tour.

Coincidentally, on the same day, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, who was on his visit to Gwalior, warmly welcomed Anushka and her father Brijmohan Sharma at Gwalior Airport. The Chief Minister sweetened Anushka’s face and while giving warm congratulations and best wishes said that you should bring glory to Madhya Pradesh and the country and become a source of inspiration for other girls. These words of the Chief Minister turned into reality when Anushka stepped into the international cricket field on South African soil. “Nari Shakti Vandan Pakhwada” dedicated to women empowerment is being celebrated by the state government. During this holy fortnight, Anushka increased the prestige of Madhya Pradesh in the whole world. He was included in the ‘playing eleven’ of the Indian team in the very first match of the T-20 series against South Africa.

Amidst an emotional and proud moment on the field, legendary Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur made Anushka’s international debut by donning the ‘Team India’ cap. Anushka’s arrival on the international cricket field wearing a blue jersey and an Indian cap on her head became a global symbol of the growing steps of women power of the state. With this glorious moment, Anushka of Gwalior became that shining star, whose echo will now be heard by the whole world. The Women’s Cricket Academy run by the Madhya Pradesh Government in Shivpuri has made an invaluable contribution in honing the cricketing edge hidden within Anushka. The disciplined training and facilities of this only government women’s academy in India provided Anushka the platform from where she showcased her talent from domestic cricket to WPL (Women’s Premier League). Three players including Anushka from this cricket academy of Madhya Pradesh have been selected in WPL this year.
