Apple is planning a massive iPhone 18 delay: Here’s why!
New rumors suggest that Apple is about to change how they release their phones in a very big way. For years we have expected a brand new base model every single September without fail. However this fall might look very different for people waiting to upgrade their standard devices. Reports indicate that there will be no base iPhone 18 launching later this year. Instead Apple is focusing on their more expensive and high end models for the big fall event. This means the standard phone we usually see is getting pushed back quite a bit.
iPhone 18 base model release date delay
Evidence is growing that the regular iPhone 18 will not arrive until early 2027. This would be a major shift from the traditional schedule that fans have followed for over a decade. Supply chain experts noticed that Apple is actually making more of the current iPhone 17 than usual. They are even expanding their factories to keep up with the demand for the older model. It looks like Apple wants the iPhone 17 to stay on shelves as the main entry level choice for a much longer time. By doing this they can wait for better parts and newer technology to be ready for the next generation.
New iPhone 18 Pro and Ultra features
While the basic phone is delayed the premium lineup is still expected to arrive on time this fall. This year the focus will be on the iPhone 18 Pro and a brand new iPhone Ultra model. Some leaks suggest we might even see a folding phone or a very thin model called the iPhone Air 2. These high end devices will likely feature much faster chips and better cameras to justify the wait. Moving the cheaper model to a spring release helps Apple give each phone its own time to shine. It also helps them manage their stock better during a busy holiday season
