Apple WWDC 2026: New Siri AI, macOS, complete iOS 27 feature list, supported devices – MORE

Tim Cook took the WWDC stage on June 8, 2026 for the last time as Apple’s CEO, and he saved some of his best for last. WWDC 2026 delivered one of the most packed keynotes in the conference’s 37-year history, with announcements that matter directly to Indian iPhone users, from which phones are getting iOS 27 to what the new Siri can actually do. Here is everything you need to know.

The biggest announcement: Siri is completely rebuilt

Apple has rebuilt Siri from scratch and renamed it Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence in collaboration with Google Gemini. The new Siri understands your personal context including photos, contacts, calendar, and history. It has screen awareness, meaning it can see and act on whatever is currently visible on your display. And it is genuinely conversational, allowing proper back-and-forth exchanges for research, brainstorming, writing help, and complex tasks, comparable to ChatGPT and Gemini rather than the old one-shot query assistant.

A dedicated Siri app is now available across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with conversations syncing across all your devices. Siri is also coming to CarPlay, AirPods, watchOS, and visionOS. Voices are more natural and expressive with customisable speed.

One important note for Indian users: Siri AI will not be available in the EU or China due to regulatory requirements but is expected to be available in India when it launches in beta later this year.

Which iPhones are getting iOS 27? Complete list

This is the question every Indian iPhone user is asking. Apple has confirmed iOS 27 will support over 30 iPhones, going all the way back to the iPhone 11 from 2019, making it the widest iOS compatibility net in Apple’s history.

The complete supported device list is iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE second generation and later, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

If you are using an iPhone 11 bought in 2019, you are still covered. This is significant for India where mid-range and older iPhones remain extremely popular and widely used.

Note that Apple Intelligence features including the new Siri AI will require newer chip generations, so older iPhones will receive the iOS 27 visual and performance overhaul but not all AI capabilities.

iOS 27 performance upgrades that every user will feel

Before getting to AI, the pure performance improvements in iOS 27 are worth highlighting on their own. AirDrop file transfers are up to 80% faster. Photos appear in your camera roll up to 70% faster after being taken. Apps launch up to 30% faster. The Files app transfers data up to 5 times faster. Wi-Fi to cellular network switching is smoother and faster. These improvements apply all the way back to the iPhone 11.

Three new AI photo editing tools: India meets Google and Samsung competition

Apple has introduced three natural language AI photo editing tools in iOS 27. Extend lets you expand the frame of a photo beyond its original edges. Enhance makes intelligent adjustments to lighting, colour, and detail based on the context of the image. Reframe lets you change the composition of a photo after the fact. All three work through simple natural language instructions, meaning you describe what you want and the AI does it. This directly challenges the AI photo editing capabilities that Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy have dominated for several years.

Complete Apple Intelligence feature list for iOS 27

The full Apple Intelligence expansion covers virtually every corner of iOS 27. Image Playground is completely rebuilt with powerful new image models. Shortcuts gets AI, with Apple Intelligence building shortcuts from plain language descriptions. The Home app analyses camera footage and surfaces the most important clips automatically. The Phone app understands call context entirely on-device. Calendar, Messages, and Phone all get Apple Intelligence integration. Safari can build a custom browser extension from a description. Smart Reply matches your personal writing style. Automatic proofreading works across every text input systemwide. Spatial Reframing corrects framing and perspective after capture. Visual Intelligence integrates into the iPhone Camera so Siri can see what your camera sees in real time, including the ability to point your phone at a restaurant bill and have it automatically split. Rich image details arrive in VoiceOver for accessibility. Workout Buddy gets new insights and arrives in Spanish.

Parental controls completely overhauled

Apple rebuilt Screen Time with guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Parents can set Time Allowances for games, entertainment, and social media apps with different limits for weekdays and weekends. Children must request parental approval to visit any website in Safari across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. App Store downloads require parental permission for Child Accounts. Communication safety now blocks gore in addition to nudity. Parents control who children can interact with in Messages.

macOS Golden Gate: What Mac users need to know

macOS 27 is named Golden Gate. The single biggest change is that Intel Macs are no longer supported, ending a six-year transition period. Only Apple Silicon Macs will run macOS Golden Gate. Siri AI arrives on Mac through Spotlight, which now recognises AI prompts and routes them to the chatbot. Safari gains automatic tab organisation by topic, related tab suggestions, and a Notify Me feature for website changes. Liquid Glass is refined with a new readability slider addressing the most common criticisms of the design language introduced last year.

For developers

Xcode now supports any AI model or agent of the developer’s choice. The Foundation Model framework handles image input alongside text. A Core AI framework allows third-party model integration. The Image Playground API is now available to developers.

How to get iOS 27

Developer betas are available from today, June 8. Public betas arrive next month. The full public release comes this fall alongside the iPhone 17 lineup. Unless you are a developer, wait for the official release as betas carry bugs and reduced battery performance.

The moment everyone is talking about

Tim Cook closed his final WWDC saying “It’s been the honour of a lifetime to help advance Apple’s mission.” Apple then closed the keynote with rapper Erickthearchitect delivering a freestyle explaining iOS 27 features, an unexpected ending to a landmark event that immediately dominated social media conversation.
