Saira's lawyer Vandana Shah & Associates has issued an official statement regarding her decision to separate from Rehman. It said, “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has taken the difficult decision of separation from her husband Mr. A.R. Rahman. This decision has come after severe emotional damage to their relationship. Rehman and Saira got married in Chennai in March 1995, three months after their first meeting. The marriage of both of them has lasted for about 30 years. Saira was seen supporting her husband on every occasion. Rehman and his wife have three children – Khatija, Rahima and Amin. Khatija has now come into the singing line.
