AR Rahman: Famous Bollywood singer and musician AR Rahman’s wife Saira Banu has released a statement and shared information about her divorce on November 20, 2024. Hours after the divorce, the singer’s guitarist Mohini Dey also announced her divorce. Soon after the news of Rehman and Mohini’s divorce broke, many started rumors and talked about their relationship on social media. Now, AR Rahman’s legal team has issued a notice regarding this move by people and issued an ultimatum to the rumour-mongers. According to this, if the fake content and false news are not removed from the social media within 24 hours, legal action will be taken against the singer. I will also file a defamation case. It said, ‘Certain social media sites and many YouTubers, inspired by fantasy and fanciful stories about her personal life, have started slanderous and defamatory stories. Some also gave interviews about the failure of their married life. What did AR Rahman’s lawyer say? AR Rahman’s lawyer said, ‘My client has instructed me to state that there is not an iota of truth in any program or interview and that the content damaging the image of my client and his family is objectionable. This shows that people on social media want cheap popularity, which harms my client’s reputation. Strict action by AR Rahman: AR Rahman’s lawyer further wrote, ‘As per the instructions received from my client, if he does not remove such objectionable content and videos within 1 hour to 24 hours, he will be booked under Indian Judiciary Act section. A criminal defamation case is registered under Section 356 and carries a jail term of up to two years. The Court can decide this with or without penalty under Section 356 (2) of the Act.
