AR Rahman’s Aadujeevitham background score wins at Hollywood Music in Media Awards
The 2024 edition of Hollywood Music in Media Awards has honoured AR Rahman’s background score for the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Aadujeevitham in the category Independent Film (Foreign Language). Blessy, who received it on behalf of Rahman at the ceremony held in Los Angeles, announced the news through his Instagram handle.
In the video that Blessy shared, Rahman says, “It’s an incredible honour to receive this award for the best score for a foreign language film, The Goat Life. I am deeply grateful to the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for recognising the score.”
Adding to the statement, Rahman says, “This project was a labour of love, and I share this moment with my amazing team of musicians and technicians, director Blessy, and everyone who believed in the vision we brought to life.”
Rahman also thanked his “fans and supporters worldwide” for their “unwavering love and inspiration, while adding “Ella pugazhum iraivanukke (All praise/glory is to God).”
The HMMA Awards are a reliable indicator of potential Oscar winners.
Based on Benyamin’s novel of the same name, the film tells the survival tale of Najeeb, a Malayali expatriate stuck in Saudi Arabia. Apart from Prithviraj Sukumaran, it stars Amala Paul, KR Gokul, and Jimmy Jean-Louis.
Rahman’s work for The Goat Life also includes the song ‘periionea,’ which serves as the beating heart of Najeeb’s undying hope in the face of great adversity.
