Araghchi reveals Russia’s role in the Iran war, targets the US
New Delhi. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Syed Abbas Araghchi, confirmed his country’s relationship with Russia on “Meet the Press.” US intelligence officials believe Russia has provided Iran with information to target US troops and assets in the Middle East. Araghchi stated that military cooperation between Iran and Russia is not new and will continue in the future. He added that Iran and Russia have a very good partnership.
However, the foreign minister denied having any specific intelligence. Araghchi said that Iran has deliberately limited the range of its ballistic missiles to 2,000 kilometers so as not to pose a threat to the world. He said that this war was imposed on Iran by the US and Israel, to which Iran is responding in self-defense.
Iran currently limits the range of its missiles to 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles). According to Araghchi, there are no plans to extend this range, nor is there any evidence of work on longer-range missiles. The current range covers the entire Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe. He said that Iran does not want any country in the world to perceive it as a threat. He also categorically rejected claims that its missiles could reach the United States.
Seeking a lasting peace,
Iran is seeking a permanent end to the war rather than a ceasefire. Araghchi said that before any agreement can be reached, the aggressors must explain why they launched this aggression. He accused the US and Israel of forcing the war and said that Iran will continue to fight for its people and security. According to him, whatever Iran is doing is legal self-defense, and the country has every right to do so.
Abbas Araghchi strongly criticized President Donald Trump’s accusations against Iran for the February 28 school
explosion that killed more than 165 people, mostly children. Araghchi said evidence points to a US airstrike. Satellite images and expert analysis also indicate the blast was caused by US airstrikes, which also targeted a Revolutionary Guard compound. He questioned who, if not the US, could be behind the attack.
