‘Nobody is giving me work…’ Archana Puran Singh revealed, acting career came to a halt because of Kapil’s show

Archana Puran Singh Not Getting Work: Archana Puran Singh is one of the few artists of Hindi cinema and television who have made a strong mark on both the mediums for decades. Archana, who started her career with the film ‘Nikah’ in 1982, initially played small roles, but gradually she made her own place in the industry. In 1987, she established herself as a capable actress by playing the lead role in the film ‘Jalwa’ with Naseeruddin Shah.

Long journey from films to TV

In the 90s, Archana Puran Singh did different types of roles in films. From item numbers in films like ‘Baaz’ and ‘Judge Mujrim’, he entertained the audience with his comic style in films like ‘Insaan’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘De Dana Dan’ and ‘Bol Bachchan’. He also did many shows on TV, but in the new era, his biggest recognition came from the comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show. Since joining the show as a judge in place of Navjot Singh Sidhu in 2019, she has been a continuous part of it. Today this show is streaming on OTT platform under the name of The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Popularity of the show, but impact on career

In a recent interview, Archana spoke openly about her career. He told that because of Kapil Sharma’s show, he had to give up many opportunities to work in films. She had to go to Scotland for 25 days for a big project, but due to the continuous shooting of the show, she could not accept the offer. He said that when the show came on TV, about 100 episodes were shot in a year, due to which he had no time left for any other project. Due to repeated rejection of films, gradually the filmmakers stopped approaching him.

“People consider me not an actor but just a laughing judge.”

Archana also admitted that today her image in the industry has become that of a judge. According to her, “I try, but I am not able to convince the filmmakers that I am an actor. They think that I just sit on the chair and keep laughing.” This has also become a kind of regret for him, because he is still equally serious towards acting.

New expectations from OTT

However, now the situation is changing. After The Great Indian Kapil Show comes in OTT format, the show is shot on a season basis. This is giving Archana free time throughout the year and she can travel and shoot for other projects. He hopes that this will give a new direction to his acting career.

Return to films and new projects

Recently Archana has been seen in the film Toaster, in which she has a comic role. In this film she has worked with Rajkumar Rao for the second time. Earlier, both were seen together in Vicky Vidya’s video. According to Archana, if she had not worked in that film, she might not have been able to be a part of ‘Toaster’.

Strong earnings from digital platform also

Apart from acting, Archana Puran Singh is also very active on digital platforms. She constantly stays connected with her fans through YouTube vlogs and Instagram reels. According to reports, Archana earns around Rs 4.4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh every month from YouTube, while her annual earning reaches more than Rs 50 lakh.
