New Delhi: The first World Cup of Kho-Kho was held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Delhi. Indian women's and men's teams performed brilliantly in this tournament. Indian women's team won the title by defeating Nepal. After this the Indian men's team also showed excellent performance. The final of the Men's Kho-Kho World Cup was held between India and Nepal and the first match of the tournament was also played between the two teams, in which India won. India also won the trophy by defeating Nepal in the final.

Defeated Nepal 54-36

The Indian team defeated Nepal 54-36 in the final match. Nepal won the toss and decided to defend, but the Indian team made a strong start. The Indian team scored 26 points in the first turn. Nepal scored 18 points in the second turn, giving the Indian team a lead of 8 points. In the third turn, the Indian team scored a total of 54 points and took a lead of 26 points. Nepal scored only 8 points in the last turn and thus the Indian team registered a one-sided victory.

20 teams took part

A total of 20 teams participated in this tournament. The Indian men's team was in Group A along with Nepal, Peru, Brazil and Bhutan. India performed brilliantly in the group stage and won all the matches. India defeated Nepal by 42-37, Brazil by 64-34, Peru by 70-38 and Bhutan by 71-34. The Indian team also played brilliantly in the knockout stage. India defeated Sri Lanka 100–40 in the quarterfinals, then defeated South Africa 60–18 in the semi-finals.
