Arif Mohammad Khan was a critic of Modi after Godhra, Gujarat visit changed his perspective

Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan made a shocking revelation at the release ceremony of journalist Alok Mehta’s book ‘Revolutionary Raj: Narendra Modi’s 25 Years’ at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi. He was a staunch critic of the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at the time of the 2002 Godhra incident and subsequent unrest, but after spending more than four months in Gujarat, his thinking completely changed.

Khan said, ‘After the Godhra tragedy, I used to criticize Modi ji. If I had not spent such a long time in Gujarat after the riots and had not met people from different communities, perhaps my old views would have remained the same.

He said that the allegations leveled against Modi were extremely unfair. ‘He is the most misunderstood leader. After four months, my entire perspective changed and I started putting my ideas forward before everyone.

Khan described Modi as determined, patient and goal-oriented, who never acts in a hurry. The book describes Modi’s journey of 25 years in detail, in which Amit Shah has written the foreword.

Khan credited Modi for the 2019 law criminalizing triple talaq. ‘After 50 years the world will understand this great work of Modi.’ Hardeep Singh Puri, Harivansh Narayan Singh, NK Singh and KJ Alphons were present in the program.

Puri emphasized India’s economic progress – from $2 trillion in 2014 to $4.3 trillion today, the world’s fourth largest economy, soon to become the third. ‘India is passing through remarkable times.’
