Arjun Kapoor finally opens up on father Boney Kapoor falling in love with Sridevi, divorcing his mother Mona Shourie: ‘What he had..’

Arjun Kapoor recalls how he coped with his father Boney Kapoor’s separation from mother Mona Shourie and his subsequent relationship with Sridevi.

Arjun Kapoor’s parents Boney Kapoor and Mona Shourie parted ways when the actor was hardly 10 years old. The Gunday actor has often spoken about his parents parting ways. After their divorce from Mona, Boney Kapoor went on to marry the late actress Sridevi. In a recent chat with Raj Shamani, Arjun recalled the split and how he dealt with it.

Talking about the split, the actor said, “My parents split up when I was 10 years old. That’s something that, at that point, didn’t feel that would shape me and change the course of my entirely because I was dealing with it in real time. But when I look back, there are a lot of things that… ”

He further explained, “For example, my father was busy making two big films when that was happening. He was making Prem and Roop Ki Rani Choro Ka Raja. He was under a lot of pressure to complete those films and release them. So, we never had a normal father-son relationship where he came to school to pick me up or drop me. It’s not that he didn’t try, but I never had that, and then the split happened also. That is slightly traumatic when you look back and retrospect.”

Post that, Arjun Kapoor and Boney Kapoor worked on their relationship. “For example, my father was busy making two big films when that was happening. After the separation, Mouna was diagnosed with cancer and hypertension. She passed away in March 2012 in the presence of her children due to multiple organ failure.
