Arjun Tendulkar puts on all-round show for Goa ahead of IPL 2025 Retention Day on October 31. Will Mumbai Indians retain him as ‘uncapped’ player?
All-rounder Arjun Tendulkar couldn’t have come up with a better time to make his mark at the Ranji Trophy 2024. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Retention Day just a day away on October 31 at 5pm, the Mumbai Indians put on an all-round show for Goa against Sikkim.
Arjun, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, hold a contract currently with Mumbai Indians worth Rs 30 lakh. The left-arm pacer, originally from Mumbai, picked up 2 wickets in Sikkim’s first innings and followed up with a four-wicket haul in the second innings.
Arjun dismissed their openers quickly in the chase and played a key role in Goa’s win by an innings and 53 runs. He contributed in both departments in the ongoing fixture against Nagaland as well. Arjun once again provided an early breakthrough and dismissed their opener for a score of 3. He snared 2 more wickets and finished with figures of 15-5-27-3 in the first innings.
Perhaps Arjun Tendulkar biggest curse is being a son of the great Sachin Tendulkar, if he was some random player and ability he has and lack of players in his niche, all rounder, a left handed all rounder, he would have been at better place pic.twitter.com/rJnjyMTsP6

The left-handed batter scored a quick 42 off 39 balls as Goa put on a total of 306. Arjun failed to take a wicket in Nagaland’s second innings as Goa won the match by 83 runs. Chasing 339 runs to win, Nagaland were bowled out for 255 with Goa’s Darshan Misal taking 5/51 and Rahul Mehta claiming 4/48.
Arjun Tendulkar turned out in 3 matches for Mukesh Ambani-owned Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023, claiming 3 wickets and only played in the single match in IPL 2024.
Meanwhile, MI are likely to go in for 5 retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction next month. Former captain Rohit Sharma is likely to be one of the retained players along with Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma.
There is speculation that Rohit could be retained for Rs 14 crore along with current MI skipper Hardik Pandya. Jasprit Bumrah and new India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav could be getting Rs 18 crore each while batter Tilak Varma could be retained for Rs 11 crore.
