Arshdeep Singh creates panic with his swing, clean bowls Rituraj Gaikwad

Arshdeep Swing Magic: Arshdeep Singh won everyone's hearts with his bowling in the quarter-final match of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 between Punjab and Maharashtra. He wreaked havoc with swing and seam in the initial overs and turned the match in Punjab's favor by sending batsmen like Rituraj Gaikwad to the pavilion. The 25-year-old fast bowler made a strong claim for a place in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025 by taking three important wickets.

Maharashtra on back foot from excellent start

Captain Abhishek Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Arshdeep made his intentions clear as soon as he handled the new ball. In the very first over, he bowled Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad with a brilliant ball. He swung the ball both ways and tested Gaikwad thoroughly with his swing. Gaikwad tried to hit a cut shot, but the ball hit his off stump.

After this, Arshdeep also dismissed Siddhesh Veer in the third over. He bowled a ball which first went out and then came inwards. The result was that Siddhesh hit the outside edge and was caught behind the wicket. With these two big blows, Maharashtra's score became 8/2 in 3 overs.

Arshin Kulkarni and Ankit Bawne played brilliant innings

However, after the initial setbacks, Maharashtra batsmen Arshin Kulkarni and Ankit Bawne took over the team. Both of them made a partnership of 145 runs for the third wicket. Despite Arshdeep's initial sharp bowling, Arshin showed patience and scored a brilliant century in the very first match of his List A career. He scored 107 runs on 137 balls. Whereas, Bawne scored 60 runs, but he was bowled by Naman Dheer.

Maharashtra's challenging score

Maharashtra posted a strong score of 275/6 in the allotted 50 overs. Nikhil Naik (52*) and Satyajit Bachhav (20*) played useful innings in the end. Arshdeep Singh was the most successful bowler for Punjab, taking 3 wickets for 56 runs in 9 overs. Captain Abhishek Sharma took 1 wicket for 42 runs in 10 overs and proved to be the most economical bowler.
