Arshdeep Singh overtakes Bumrah to script T20 World Cup history
India pacer Arshdeep Singh etched his name in the record books on Thursday, overtaking Jasprit Bumrah to become India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history.
Arshdeep achieved the milestone during India’s do-or-die Super Eight clash against Zimbabwe at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, returning impressive figures of 3 for 24 in his four overs. The performance took his tally to 35 wickets in T20 World Cups, surpassing Bumrah’s 33 scalps.

Since making his tournament debut in 2022, Arshdeep has claimed 35 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 14.25 and an economy rate of 7.33, including a four-wicket haul. Bumrah, who previously held the record, picked up his 33 wickets in 23 matches at an average of 14.00, with best figures of 3 for 7.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan remains the highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history with 50 wickets.
Arshdeep Singh’s stellar form continues

In the ongoing edition, Arshdeep has taken eight wickets in five matches at an average of 16.00, with his best figures of 3 for 24 coming in the Zimbabwe clash.
During the 2024 edition, he was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets in eight matches at an average of 12.64, including a four-wicket haul (4/9).
The left-arm pacer also reached another landmark, completing 150 international wickets for India. He now has 151 wickets in 96 international matches at an average of 19.78, including three four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls, with best figures of 5 for 37.
Arshdeep is also India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, with 126 wickets in 81 matches, in addition to 25 ODI wickets in 15 appearances.
