India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh scripted history at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, as he surpassed the out-of-favour leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, and became the highest wicket-taker in T20I format for India.

Arshdeep achieved this achievement in the 61st T20I of his career, as he took the wickets of Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in the first match of the five-match T20I series against England. Duckett was the 97th target of Arshdeep in the format.

Arshdeep is now on his way to become the fastest pace-bowler to reach 100 wickets in T20Is. The record currently is on the name of Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, who achieved this feat in 71 T20I matches.

After Suryakumar Yadav had won the toss and decided to bowl first, Arshdeep came in strong since the very beginning. He bowled a short ball, which got the better of Phil Salt as he edged the ball high in the air, into the hands of wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.

In his second over, he got the wicket of Ben Duckett. The edged ball from Duckett was taken by Rinku Singh, who ran outside the (almost) 27.5 metres circle from covers.
