Arson at various places, angry workers, clashes with police, why is Noida Phase-2 on fire?
Hundreds of employees have taken to the streets in Noida Phase-2 and are protesting demanding increase in salaries. This demonstration has now turned violent. In Phase 2, protesters have vandalized many vehicles and properties and pelted stones. Many vehicles have been set on fire by the protesters. Here, employees working in a company had gathered to protest against their demands for salary hike. A large number of policemen have been deployed to control the situation.
Factory workers in Noida have been protesting for several days. The administration had talked to the workers on Sunday. The Noida administration had announced to give one mandatory holiday in a week to every worker in factories, double pay for overtime and double pay even for working on weekly holidays. It was made mandatory to pay every year’s bonus before 30th November. The workers seem dissatisfied with the companies and administration.

Why are the workers protesting?
Thousands of workers of Hosiery Complex, Phase-2 in Noida have been protesting since Friday. Their demand is that they should be given proper compensation, maximum facilities, wages and security. During the demonstration, some workers also pelted stones at the police. Workers have gathered in D Block and are also marching towards Dadri Road. The workers’ demonstration is also creating a traffic jam.
Where is the demonstration taking place?
These days a big demonstration of workers is going on in Phase-2 Hosiery Complex of Noida. Hundreds of workers working in factories have taken to the streets for the last three days. The workers want the minimum wage to be increased. Workers say that their survival has become difficult due to rising inflation. Tea, ration, gas cylinder and room rent have all become expensive, but this time the companies have given an annual increase of only Rs 250 to 350. In many places the minimum wage is still very low, making it difficult to run a family.

What is the real reason for the demonstration?
A major reason for the demonstration of employees and laborers is the recent wage hike in Haryana. The Haryana government has announced an increase of about 35 percent in the minimum wage, which has come into effect from April 2026. The workers of Noida are now demanding equal pay, because the factories at both the places work almost the same. After the demonstration in Gurugram, now this issue has become heated in Noida also.
What do the workers want?
The workers want double overtime pay, weekly off, guaranteed salary increases in writing and job security. They are also opposing the new labor laws, calling them anti-labor. During the protest, the workers blocked the road and took out a march. There were clashes with the police at some places and reports of lathicharge. The situation is tense, police forces have been deployed in large numbers.

What has the administration done?
Noida administration has given a strict warning to the companies not to delay salaries, not to do layoffs and to fully respect the rights of workers. A consensus has not yet been reached regarding increasing the salary. This movement can spread across the country. The working class across the country is expressing its dissatisfaction on the issues of inflation, wages and labor laws.
Have the demands been accepted?
The administration has agreed that the salaries of the workers will have to be paid by the 10th of every month. The administration has instructed factories to form committees with women chairpersons to provide medical cover to workers, safe working environment and complaints of harassment of women. These decisions were taken in the meeting held at Sector-6 office of Noida Authority on Sunday.
