State-of-the-art CT scan facility established in KGMU
Lucknow. The bhoomi pujan for the establishment of an AI-enabled, state-of-the-art CT scan facility was conducted on Friday at the Trauma Center of King George’s Medical University. This ceremony was performed by Vice Chancellor Dr. Professor Sonia Nityanand. He said that this technology will facilitate immediate examination of serious trauma patients without any delay. He said that given the high patient load, this project has been possible due to a well-thought-out vision and institutional support. The Vice Chancellor said, time is the biggest challenge in trauma. This AI based CT machine will speed up the investigation manifold and serious patients will get the benefit of proper treatment in the initial ‘golden hour’ itself.
Dr. Anit Parihar, Head of the Department, Radiology, said that the ‘ED-Trauma Mode’ of the new machine allows the patient to be scanned directly along with the stretcher. He said this system almost eliminates technical delays. The machine’s AI-based auto-positioning, 3D spine-rib analysis and 80 percent less radiation makes it state-of-the-art and patient-friendly.”
Dr Prem Raj Singh, Chief Medical Superintendent, Trauma Centre, said that the facility handles heavy patient load on a daily basis, and this facility will make the services faster and better. Dr. Amiya Agarwal, Medical Superintendent, Trauma Center said that the new CT facility will take both speed and accuracy in emergency services to new levels.
Dr Somil Jaiswal, Professor, Neurosurgery, said that AI based analysis will make surgical decisions faster and accurate, especially in spine and head injuries. Dr. K. Of. Singh, Media Incharge and Professor, General Surgery, said that this technology will further strengthen KGMU’s position among the top trauma care centers in the country.
Dr. Shrikant Srivastava, Head of Department, Department of Geriatric Mental Health, described it as an important step in upgrading the overall services of the hospital. Dr Avinash Aggarwal, Head of Department, Critical Care Medicine said that in critical patients every delay in time matters and this machine will help in speeding up the decision process. Dr. Anil Gupta, Head of Department, PMR, said that better imaging will also be helpful in formulating rehabilitation strategies.
The Civil Department official assured that the construction and installation work will be completed within the stipulated time. Key features of the new CT facility are AI based auto-positioning, scanning directly from the stretcher, automatic identification of spine and ribs, 80 percent less radiation, faster speed and higher quality imaging.
