New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today compared India-Russia relations to the Pole Star which remains fixed at one place in the sky. He said that both the countries have agreed to take forward their economic cooperation program till 2030. Both countries are moving towards signing a free trade agreement with the Eurasia (Asia-Europe) Economic Union. Prime Minister Modi held bilateral summit talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Hyderabad House on Friday.

In a joint press statement after the talks, the Prime Minister said that in the last 8 decades, the world has seen ups and downs and humanity has gone through many challenges and crises, but the friendship between India and Russia is based on mutual respect and deep trust like the pole star and has always stood the test of time. During this, both the countries signed agreements to strengthen bilateral relations. These agreements were exchanged during a media statement. The Prime Minister announced that India is soon going to introduce free 30-day tourist visa and group tourist visa for Russian citizens.

The Prime Minister described the cooperation between the two countries in rare minerals as important to ensure secure and diverse supply chains across the world. He said that this will support our partnership in clean energy, high-tech production and industries of the future. The Prime Minister described energy security as an important and strong pillar of the India-Russia partnership and said that the decades-long cooperation between the two countries in the field of civil nuclear energy has been important in realizing our social priority of clean energy. The Prime Minister announced that both the countries will cooperate for training of seafarers in polar waters. This will not only give new strength to our cooperation in the Arctic, it will also create new employment opportunities for the youth of India. He also noted that in October this year, millions of devotees received the blessings of the holy relics of Lord Buddha at the International Buddhist Forum in Kalmykia.

On Ukraine conflict, the Prime Minister said that India has been in favor of peace since the beginning. We welcome all efforts for a peaceful, permanent solution to the issue. India is always ready to contribute and will continue to do so. Expressing his strong stance on terrorism once again, the Prime Minister appealed for international cooperation. He said that India and Russia have been cooperating shoulder to shoulder for a long time in the fight against this. India firmly believes that terrorism is a direct attack on the values ​​of humanity and global unity is our greatest strength against it. He expressed confidence that our friendship will give us the strength to face global challenges and this trust will enrich our common future. Before the talks, President Putin went to Rajghat where he paid homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

President Putin wrote in his message that Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to world peace cannot be forgotten. He envisioned the multipolar world that is now taking shape. In his letters to Leo Tolstoy, he thought extensively about the future of a world free from dictatorship and domination and based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and cooperation between nations. These are the same principles and values ​​that Russia and India jointly uphold on the international stage today. The Russian President was formally welcomed by President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

President Putin arrived in New Delhi yesterday, where the Prime Minister welcomed him at the airport. After this, in an interview, President Vladimir Putin said that cooperation between India and Russia not only strengthens bilateral relations but also lays the foundation for global stability. He said that political changes or situations like Ukraine crisis have not had any negative impact on India-Russia energy cooperation. Oil trading and refining continues smoothly, and Russian companies view Indian partners as trustworthy. Putin also mentioned that while the US can buy nuclear fuel from Russia, India should not be deprived of this right and this can be discussed with President Trump.
