Alert of severe cold wave in many states including Delhi-UP, warning of rain in the south

New Delhi. It is extremely cold in entire North India including Delhi-UP. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert in many states of India today. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are currently experiencing cold and dry weather with morning fog/haze and cold wave alert in some areas.

How will be the weather of Delhi NCR?
There will be severe cold in Delhi-NCR today (Thursday) and light to moderate fog/mist in the morning. The weather will be mainly clear and sunny during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 23-24°C and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 8-10°C.

Fog will cover these states
These areas also have mainly clear weather and fog in the morning. There is a possibility of dense fog in some eastern parts. Haryana and Punjab are experiencing severe cold; the minimum temperature has been recorded at 2.8°C in Adampur, Punjab.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that cold wave conditions will persist in these areas for the next 2 days. Rajasthan is expected to have partly cloudy sky and foggy weather in the morning with light winds. There is a possibility of fog in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh
Minimum temperatures in these hilly areas are below 5°C and many upper reaches have recently received snowfall, bringing cold winds to the plains. The weather will be cold and there is a possibility of frost at some places. The mercury has fallen below 10°C in many parts of Madhya Pradesh and the Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert for the next 2 days.

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rain occurred over coastal Tamil Nadu. At the same time, during the next 24 hours, light rain at one or two places with moderate rain is possible over Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There is a possibility of light rain over interior Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep. Dense fog may occur in some parts of Northeast India.
