Trump’s warning to Colombia’s President Petro

Washington. US President Donald Trump has warned Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro that if he does not pay attention to the drug situation in the country, he may face serious trouble.

Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday, “If he (Petro) doesn’t act wisely, he’s going to be in big trouble. Colombia is manufacturing too many drugs. They have factories making cocaine, and they sell it directly into America. So he has to be smart, otherwise he will be America’s next target and I hope he is listening.”

Trump said he had not yet considered talking to Mr. Petro and had not thought much about him. In an interview with Politico earlier this week, the US President said he would not rule out the possibility of attacking suspected drug traffickers from Colombia and Mexico. In recent months the US has launched attacks on boats suspected of being involved in drug smuggling in the Caribbean. America mainly blames Venezuela for sending drugs for this. Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson said the US has conducted a total of 21 strikes on suspected drug smuggling boats, resulting in the deaths of 82 people.
