Earthquake of 6.7 magnitude hits Japan, warning issued

Japan. Japan, a country that faces frequent natural disasters, is once again facing the threat of tsunami. A tsunami advisory has been issued for this island country after an earthquake of magnitude 6.7 on Friday.

According to reports, the epicenter of this dangerous earthquake was at a depth of about 20 kilometers off the east coast of Aomori province, located in the north of Honshu island. It shook the land of Japan at 11.44 in the morning. According to a warning issued by the Japanese Meteorological Agency, tsunami waves up to 1 meter high may occur in the Pacific Ocean coastal areas of Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate and Miyagi prefectures.

It is noteworthy that this earthquake came after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Japan on Friday, which caused extensive damage in northern Japan and posed a tsunami threat to Pacific coastal communities. About 34 people were injured in the earthquake that occurred on Monday. All tsunami warnings were lifted after the earthquake caused a tsunami measuring 2 feet above tide level at the port of Koji in Iwate Prefecture. After this big earthquake, experts had warned of aftershocks.

After these continuous seismic shocks in Japan, officials say that the risk of earthquake of magnitude 8 or more on the northeastern coast of Japan has increased. The agency asked residents of the region’s 182 municipalities to review their emergency preparedness next week. Also clarified that this is not a prediction of any major earthquake, but an advice to remain alert.
