Prime Minister leaves for three-nation tour, relations with Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman will be strengthened
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today left for a three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman. The Prime Minister issued his statement before leaving on the trip. He said that these three countries share ancient civilizational ties with India as well as contemporary bilateral partnerships. This visit is considered important towards further strengthening India’s diplomatic and global cooperation.
The Prime Minister will begin his visit from Jordan, where he will visit Amman at the invitation of King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein. This visit is being considered historic on the occasion of completion of 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. The Prime Minister will meet King Abdullah II, Prime Minister of Jordan Jafar Hassan and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. Along with this, he will also interact with the Indian community playing an important role in India-Jordan relations.
After Jordan, the Prime Minister will visit Ethiopia. This will be his first official visit to Ethiopia. He pointed out that Addis Ababa is also the headquarters of the African Union, which was made a permanent member of the G20 in 2023 during India’s G20 presidency. The Prime Minister will have extensive discussions with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali and will also meet the Indian community living there. He will also address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament, where he will share his views on India’s journey as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ and the importance of the India-Ethiopia partnership for the Global South.
The Prime Minister will reach Oman on the last leg of the visit. This visit is taking place on the occasion of completion of 70 years of India-Oman diplomatic relations. In Muscat, the Prime Minister will meet the Sultan of Oman and discuss further strengthening the strategic partnership and trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. He will also address the Indian community settled in Oman, who have contributed significantly to the development of the country and strengthening India-Oman relations.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that this three-nation visit will take India’s bilateral relations to new heights and further strengthen India’s role on the global stage.
