High Court bans guidelines for gypsy registration in Corbett Park
Nainital. Uttarakhand High Court has given a big relief to the new gypsy operators in Corbett Park and has put a stay on the guidelines for registration. The court has ordered all the parties, including the state government, to file their reply within four weeks and ordered the Director of Corbett Park to extend the date of gypsy registration and give everyone a chance.
On Tuesday, the case was heard before the division bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Subhash Upadhyay.
According to the case, Ramnagar residents Chakshu Kargeti, Savitri Aggarwal and others had filed a PIL in the High Court saying that guidelines have been made for gypsies to participate in the lottery process in Corbett Park, in which all the permit holders who have a valid permit and are fulfilling the conditions. Whether they are old or new permit holders, they all have the right to participate in the lottery process, but the Jim Corbett National Park Administration is restricting the registration of special category Gypsy owners and two years old registered Gypsies are not being allowed to participate.
Whereas these people have obtained permits from RTO last year. Due to them not participating in this, gypsy operators have become unemployed. A demand was made in the court that all these are local people and they should also be given employment. In response to this, the government said that those who were given permits, they were given as per the standards. Those who do not meet the standards have been excluded from the list.
