India’s magic in the depths of oil, India will become drilling champion through Oil Field Lab

Mumbai . Now the students of India will themselves solve the challenges hidden in the depths of oil wells. Imagine, a lab where the magic of drilling fluid will be created, oil-field chemicals will be tested and the dream of self-reliant India will come true.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and Chennai-based Pon Pure Chemicals signed a historic MoU. ‘SRMIST-Pon Pure Chemicals Lab’, the country’s first CSR funded oil field lab, will come up in the main campus of SRM.

This state-of-the-art laboratory worth Rs 75 lakh is a unique combination of industry and academia. Pon Pure will contribute Rs 20 lakh from its CSR fund, the rest will be borne by SRM. Global player Pawn Pure, operating across 24 states in the US, Europe, Gulf and India, will pass on its expertise to the students. Research will be strengthened, industry gaps will be filled, and students will be exposed to real challenges.

SRMIST Vice Chancellor Prof. “This will exemplify special skills in chemistry. The students and faculty will jump into cutting-edge research, which will make India self-reliant in oil chemicals,” C. Muthamijelvan enthused. Executive Director of Pon Pure, Surya Prakash, dreamed, “The intervention of science in drilling will open up immense possibilities. Chemical engineering students will get the exposure which was earlier a dream.” The lab will not be limited to research. Certificate-diploma-degree courses in industry training and mud engineering will be started. A new generation will be ready, which will make India’s mark in the global energy world. This wave of self-reliance will bring revolution in the oil-gas sector.
